2nd General Body Meeting (05-06-2009)

The 2nd General Body Meeting of American Business Forum was held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Defence Club, Lahore.

Meeting with U.S Delegation (01-06-2009)

USAID Delegation met the members of the Executive Committee ofABF at Coca-Cola’s office on June 1, 2009. The delegation included Mark Meassick (USAID Program Officer), Katie McDonald (Associate Mission Director for Health and Democracy, USAID Islamabad), Sajjad Moghul (Economic Growth Officer, USAID Lahore),Azza el-Abd (Deputy Director,USAID Islamabad), Saeed Siddiqi (Democracy Officer,USAID Islamabad), and Matthew Lowe (Political – Economic Section Chief, U.S. Consulate Lahore).The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the aid and make it more visible and at the same time more transparent. Idea is to have a public private partnership dialogue where monitoring process of USAID program is handled in a more professional manner and the end desired results to be obtained. Commission plans to have this ongoing dialogue withABF to ensure that all challenges are being properly advocated.

Dinner with US Delegation at Cosa Nostra – (25-05-2009)

ABF hosted a dinner honoring a visiting US delegation led by Senator Thomas Carper (D-DE), Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee. Also attending were Senator Mark Udall (D-CO), Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC), Senate Armed Services Committee and Senator Mark Begich (D-AK), Senate Armed Services Committee. The visitors were greatly impressed by the event and the presence of a significant number of ABF members. They expressed their appreciation of the initiatives taken by ABF to represent the interests of its member companies. ABF members made an excellent use of this opportunity to apprise the delegation of their concerns and problems. The visiting senator assured the members of their support to address their concerns.

Inauguration of American Business Forum – (21-05-2009)

The groundbreaking event of American Business Forum was held at Pearl Continental Lahore. H.E. Anne W. Patterson, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan graced this occasion along with Federal Mister for Investment Senator Waqar Ahmed, Senior advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa and Bryan D Hunt, Principal Officer to US Consulate in Lahore. Leading businessmen, Government officials and media personalities also attended the ceremony. Talking about the launch of ABF, Ambassador said that the establishment of ABF is a positive signal and we welcome this initiative. ABF can play an important role in strengthening relations between Pakistan and US.
Speeches were followed by certificate distribution ceremony in which members were awarded membership certificates by the Chief Guest. As a token of thanks, H.E. Anne W. Patterson, H.E. Bryan Hunt and H.E. Iftikhar Khosa were presented beautiful plaques by the Executive Committee of American Business Forum. This was followed by an appetizing lunch which was enjoyed by the guests.
We would like to thank the ABF team and all our members for helping us in making this event a success.

The objective of the meeting was to shape the last few pending things of the inauguration and assigning of the duties for follow up with the Government officials.

Sub Management Committee Meeting at Coca Cola Office (25-04-2009)

The main agenda was to finalize the proposed guest list of government officials and the event plan.

The main agenda was to finalize the to-do list for the inauguration and proposals on the funding for the inauguration.

1st Executive Committee Meeting (03-04-2009)

The 1st Executive Committee Meeting was held on April 3, 2009 at The Coca-Cola Export Corporation office. The main agenda of the meeting was to finalize Budget and Management Committees, updating the members about the meeting with William Center, Inauguration management and
discussion on ABF annual budget.

Meeting with William Center in Islamabad (26-03-2009)

The overall objective of the meeting was to facilitate dialogue with US Aid and to change American Perspective by initiating sustainable projects.

1st General Body Meeting (23-03-2009)

All members meeting was held in Gymkhana Club. We were honored to have Mr. Bryan Hunt as our chief guest and would like to thank him for his valuable support to American Business Forum. Guests were seated around 4:30 pm and Forum President Mr. Rizwan welcomed all the guests with opening remarks. The main agenda of the meeting was ABF inauguration and finances review. The attendance was great and we enrolled a few members as well. Participants had an opportunity to interact with each other and exchange their view points. Valuable suggestions were proposed for the improvement of the Forum. After the meeting, tea was served which was enjoyed by everyone.

Dinner with Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan Federal Minister of Investment (12-02-2009)

Federal Minister for Investment, Senator Waqar invited the members of ABF. The objective was to apprise the minister about the problems of the members’ visàvis Government departments and to explain him the future investment program of American Companies. Minister assured that he is available to the members anytime to resolve their problems.
